Euromonitor International will be running the second free seminar “Future Directions of the Russian Retailing and FMCG Markets” for companies in retailing, ingredients, packaging and FMCG industries such as foods, drinks, cosmetics & toiletries, and household care.

According to Euromonitor International, Consumer confidence in Eastern Europe was hit badly by the 2008 global financial crisis. Consumers are worried about currency devaluations, unemployment and political instability. The most pessimistic consumers are in the Baltics, Ukraine and Hungary, while Russian and Czech consumer outlook is less negative. In the meantime, Russian consumers will be extremely concerned about the prices as well as the necessity of the goods they will be purchasing. On the other hand, Euromonitor International's latest research shows, that Russian consumers were relatively less concerned about the economic slowdown, reassured by government plans to use windfall oil revenues to support consumers. While the Russian consumer confidence indicator of -20.0 in December 2008 was the lowest in 8 years, it was still higher than in most Eastern European countries
To learn how rapidly changing economic situation will impact consumers and market developments, and discuss the key trends in the retailing and FMCG industries, please join us on the 23rd April 2009 in Moscow, Russia.
