In 2021, the situation started to improve, with a full recovery on the most part seen in 2022 in line with the full return to domestic economic activities.
In 2022, Cambodia continues to enjoy the full reopening of domestic economic activities post pandemic. For example, religious festivals have resumed, such as the Khem New Year, Water Festival, Pchum Ben, Christmas, and many others, without the regulations that were seen in 2021.
Attitudes toward alcohol consumption in Cambodia are mixed and constantly shifting. There is an established culture of drinking among men, with men often drinking heavily when socialising.
In 2022, Cambodia’s GDP growth has reached 5%, compared to 3% in 2021, thanks to key supporting drivers, such as political stability, the successful vaccination rate, the full resumption of domestic economic activities, benefits of the Free Trade Agreement (FTAs), the resilient banking system in supporting economic recovery and increasing external demand, as export grew by 20%.
