About this Report

About this Report

After the H1N1 flu outbreak and a significant recession in 2009, 2010 was a year of recovery for Mexico City. However, arrivals to hotels and air traffic at the main airport did not return to 2008 levels. The failure of airline Mexicana in August 2010 further impeded growth. However, growth prospects are strong with the city aiming to attract more MICE and LGBT tourists as well as the national government’s aim to make Mexico the fifth most visited country by international tourists by 2018.
