OTC products are classified as free dispensing drugs and do not need to be sold via authorised pharmacies. However, these products must comply with the General Medicines Law and the General Regulation of the Law of Medications.
Vitamins and dietary supplements go through the same registration process as medicines with no changes occurring during the global health pandemic, the height of which was in 2020 and to a lesser extent in 2021. However, there are fewer regulations.
Unit prices are expected to continue rising over much of the forecast period due largely to shortages and supply chain challenges. Expected continuation of the country’s inflationary spiral is certainly set to continue into 2024.
