During recent years, a phenomena that took over Spain was the tardeo, which is going out in the afternoon with friends to have some drinks and a good time. This trend was further reinforced by the pandemic, when the restrictions on when people could leave their homes caused them to select tardeo as their favourite time for consumption, particularly of alcoholic drinks.
Demand for cocktails was high in 2022, and it is anticipated that it will increase even further in the coming years. One of the reasons is that consumers are looking for different flavours; some are looking for them because they want innovative and attention-grabbing flavours, while others are looking for lighter flavours that are more in line with their tastes because they are not fans of the strong flavour of spirits, and they find what they are seeking in cocktails.
According to Euromonitor International’s Voice of the Consumer: Lifestyles Survey 2022, consumers were forced to shop online due to the pandemic and store closures, and this behaviour has persisted even after the reopening of stores and the easing of the pandemic. For example, 41% of millennials regularly shop online while at home, and 43% regularly make purchases using their mobile devices.
