Historic/buildings sites remained as the most popular destinations to visit. There are a number of palaces and over 40,000 temples across the country. The most popular historic/buildings sites are Wat Phra Kaew (Emeral Buddha Temple), Royal Grand Palace, Vimanmek Mansion, Saman Chandra Palace, Suan Pakkard Palace, Doi Tung Palace and Mrigadayavan Palace. National parks/areas of natural beauty remained popular among domestic tourists and a strong positive trend in 2013 due to the favourable cool weather inspired many Thai travellers.

  • Tourist attractions is predicted to record positive growth in number of visitors over the forecast period. Thailand has advantages of several types of tourist attractions which are unique ranging from historical buildings to new modern tourist attractions. New man-made tourist attractions increased each year over the review period such as new art galleries, zoos and museums. The newest private zoo was the Bonanza exotic zoo in Khao Yai which was introduced in late 2013 as well as the new coming of the renovation plan of 100-rai Bird Zoo in Bonanza which was closed due to the bird flu outbreak in 2004-2005.
