Strong expansion serves to erode value per outlet

While the operators of chains like Papa John’s and Pizza Hut have chosen to call a halt to their expansion plans amidst the economic slowdown, Dominalco has opted to do the opposite with Domino’s Pizza, with this being part of a long-term strategy to be in a good position when the economy recovers. It is cheaper and easier to expand when the economy is experiencing a slowdown, for example with operators able to obtain good locations which are being vacated by other brands.

Technology becoming ever more important

Being able to order online is now a basic requirement for most consumers, especially digital natives, many of whom like to order food through mobile applications. Currently, the most advanced chain in terms of technology is Domino’s Pizza, which offers a platform that allows consumers to purchase frequently ordered products for a quicker checkout and enables them to track the status of their order in real time.
