Domino’s Pizza continued to see dynamic double-digit current value growth in 2017, with it benefiting from its expanding network of stores, strong marketing and innovative products. For example, in 2017 the company added its Feast Fixer tool to its online ordering system which enables groups to easily calculate how much pizza is required when placing the order.
In second place, Pizza Hut also continued to grow its value share in 2017. Having re-entered South Africa in 2014, the chain now has almost 60 stores nationwide, with it benefiting from a more focused approach.
Butlers is the only other significant player with the rest of the competition being fragmented. Butlers is predominantly concentrated in Cape Town, particularly within developed urban areas, with it offering free delivery.
