According to the Social Characterization Survey (CASEN) the elderly accounted for 17% of the population in 2013, which positioned Chile as a country “in the process of advanced ageing”, under the United Nations characterisation. It is estimated that between 10% and 34% of this increasing elderly population have incontinence issues, with it being more common in women.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

Kimberly-Clark Chile SA led adult incontinence in 2016 with a value share of 40% through its brands Plenitud and Poise. Second position, meanwhile, was held by domestic company CMPC Tissue with a 36% value share through its brands Cotidian and Ladysoft. The Cotidian brand took the lead in adult incontinence in 2016 with a value share of 33%, which was thanks to its wide range of products in terms of prices, qualities and ability to address different needs.
