Alongside our company giving we think it’s important to encourage our employees in their own charitable efforts and are incredibly proud of the many employees who give back to their communities each day.   To support their activities we have a matching programme where we will match funds raised for charities through sponsorship.

In September our London office has been abuzz with fundraising activities as two groups took on very different challenges to raise money for their chosen charities.

At the beginning of the month 10 colleagues embarked on an epic journey, tackling the UK Spartan Race: a 7.5km obstacle course within a forest, in the apt location of ‘Battle’ in East Sussex, South East England. Obstacles included overcoming 9 foot walls, lifting 60kg atlas stones, swimming across lakes, ascending ropes and a raft of other challenges. The day was a massive success with no lasting battles scars luckily. The team comprised of individuals from research and various sales teams. It was a great day of team-building but most importantly a lot of fun. Sully Hanif who led on the initiative raised over £1,100 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK with the help of the company match.

Well done to everyone who tackled the course and showed real grit throughout the race – true team spirit meant no Spartan was left behind!

Taking on a very different challenge a separate team of colleagues have been raising money for Action for Children as they prepared to spend a night sleeping outside in London. Byte Night is a flagship fundraising event for Action for Children raising over £1 million pounds a year. On Friday 2nd October the Euromonitor group joined teams from a number of other corporate companies to spend a night sleeping in a small park under a railway line near London Bridge. Given the mild weather the team felt it would be a relatively comfortable night, but it turned out to be a tough and humbling experience.

“I realised within the first 10 minutes it was unlikely I’d be getting much sleep due to the firmness of the ground and the noise from the railway line overhead. I couldn’t help but imagine how a young person might feel, frightened, alone, hungry and sleeping in a location that wasn’t cordoned off by security!” Harpreet Banger

So far the team have raised nearly £1,000; their target is £2,500 which will be matched by Euromonitor. With more fundraising activities planned throughout November they’re confident they can make it. If anyone would like to sponsor the team please head over to their fundraising page.
