India has the lowest per household expenditure in bathroom textiles in the world. Access (or the lack of it) to household facilities, such as bath or shower, is the single most important element determining this low expenditure. However, other key indicators (from penetration of washing machines to female employment) also play a key role, and show why China is well ahead of India in this market.
