Southeast Asia is expected to achieve sharp growth in terms of international tourism arrivals over the next five years. Countries in this region benefit from a warm climate and significant natural and historic tourist attractions, which makes them a favourite destination for Asian tourists. Growth is expected to be driven by intra-regional flows from fast-growing Asian outbound markets, including those in North Asia like China, Taiwan and South Korea, and South Asia such as India. The rise in arrivals will also be significant within the South East Asia region itself, which is experiencing robust economic growth. Intercontinental arrivals are also forecast to record a strong performance over 2012-2017.
