In 2020, Western Europe is expected to remain  the least urbanised developed region, falling behind Australasia and North America. Nonetheless, the number of its urban residents will continue increasing with the growth momentum holding in developing economies. Over 2012-2020, the most rapid population growth is estimated in Turkish first and second tier cities, while Istanbul is forecast to become the largest Western European metropolis, outrunning London.
