SANTIAGO – Global market research company Euromonitor International received the ESOMAR Excellence Award - Best Paper Nominee at ESOMAR LATAM 2017, held in Mexico City from 5 to 7 April 2017.
The Best Paper Nominee prize was won by Stephanie Landers, Consulting Team Lead at Euromonitor International, for her paper: “Business in today's Latin American society: Responding to conscious consumers and social needs”, which highlights how important it is for businesses to take social and environmental impact into account, regardless of where they operate.
According to the paper, companies operating in Latin America are increasingly addressing the social, economic, and environmental challenges being faced in the region. Businesses are integrating these considerations into their decision making in part because consumers are more informed and interconnected than ever before – they can and should approach the region’s challenges as opportunities, using their capacity for innovation to find solutions to problems that Latin America is facing. The paper highlights examples of successful business responses to a variety of challenges in the region, using both international and local case studies.
“There are a lot of exciting things happening in Latin America when it comes to the business sector contributing to improving social and environmental conditions”, states Euromonitor Consulting Team Lead Stephanie Landers. “We have a long way to go, but we can be inspired by what is happening already and try to really push the envelope, be proactive and apply the innovation mindset of business to problems in the region”, concludes Landers.
The Best Paper Nominee is chosen by the ESOMAR LATAM 2017 Programme Committee. This year’s ESOMAR LATAM winner of the ESOMAR Best Paper Nomination, qualifies as a nominee for the ESOMAR Best Paper Award, which will be presented at ESOMAR's annual Congress, to be held in Amsterdam, 10-13 September 2017.
