Today, one in ten children has a mental health problem such as anxiety or depression. That’s three children in every single UK classroom. Without help, childhood mental health problems can last a lifetime and lead to greater problems as an adult like unemployment, homelessness, suicide and addiction. We are pleased to announce that Euromonitor has chosen Place2Be as one of its Headline Partners this year, and we will be supporting their work to combat this lack of access to mental health provision for young people throughout Great Britain.

Place2Be is a leading children’s mental health charity working in schools across England, Scotland and Wales. Founded in 1994, they now work in 282 primary and secondary schools in some of the most deprived areas of the UK, reaching a school population of 117,000 children and young people.

Our partnership with Place2Be will be specifically providing funding to support their in-school service for 10 schools in the Greater London area. In each of these schools, there is a dedicated Place2Be room where one-to-one counselling for children with the most urgent needs takes place plus support for parents and teachers. In addition they also offer a service called ‘Place2Talk’ which allows children to book their own one-off appointments during break times.

“A huge thank you to Euromonitor International for choosing to support Place2Be.  Your donation will enable us to provide vital mental health support in ten schools across London,  giving vulnerable children the support they need to allow them to focus on learning, and flourish in school.” -  Vicki Bednall, Place2Be’s Director of Fundraising

Tim Kitchin, Euromonitor’s Chief Executive, comments; “We know that mental health is a huge issue in modern society - we see it in the workplace. We look forward to giving support to Place2Be with their vital work with children.”

Place2Be join our other Headline Partners who this year include: Just a Drop, Karam Foundation, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders, Unity in Health and Walkabout Foundation.

Our partnership with Place2Be enables us to work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, part of our commitment as signatories to the United Nations Global Compact.

UN Number 3: Good Health. UN Number 10: Reduced Inequalities.
