Caroline Bremner, Head of Travel and Tourism Research, will discuss the potential for online travel in the BRICS - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Firstly, she will review the factors
driving demand for online travel in this fast changing landscape, covering internet and mobile smartphone penetration, the rising middle class and popularity of social media.
The BRICS share of tourism demand and online travel is gaining in importance world-wide, particularly thanks to China and its highly competitive online space and avid netizens. Despite the exponential growth forecast for online travel categories, challenges do remain and more work is required to ensure that the BRICS realise their full potential.
