The session looked at the future demographic trends across the Asia Pacific region, exploring the potential impacts of such upon the region’s purchasing behaviour for vitamins and dietary supplements. APAC represents an area with strong potential for growth for Australian VDS manufacturers, given it is the fastest-growing region over the next 5 years in terms of total GDP, incomes and consumer expenditure. A large consumer base with unmet demands offers the consumer health industry a wealth of business opportunities to maintain the health of the population. The ageing of the population will have a significant influence on self-care initiatives for the elderly within consumer health.
