Session: Global Growth Opportunities in
Probiotics Demand Responsible Marketing and Positioning
Whilst the probiotics boom may appear to be on the
wane, the dynamism is by no means dead. In fact, probiotic yoghurt remains the
leading functional food globally and continues to rank second in terms of
absolute value growth of fortified/functional food products, behind milk formula.
At fifth place globally in terms of percentage value growth, probiotic
supplements also perform exceptionally well. Although declining sales of
pro/prebiotic yoghurt Western Europe are of big concern for the industry, the
vibrant USA and emerging markets continue to offset the stagnation in Europe.
In her presentation titled "Global Growth
Opportunities in Probiotics", Ewa will provide a trends analysis to offer
a comprehensive global perspective for strategic business planning. In
particular, her presentation will focus on the performance of probiotics versus
their non-probiotic counterparts, regional developments within yoghurt versus
pills and impact of the changing EU health claim rulings on probiotics in the
EU.
