Euromonitor’s CSR Manager was recently invited to see the operations and training centre of our Headline Partner, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF), in Brussels. Here’s her take on the day.

I was delighted to be invited by MSF to get a closer look at their work in Brussels. Having heard much about the day, I was very excited. Upon arrival in Brussels we were whisked off to MSF’s Espace Bruno Corbé, a training and innovation centre used to support their work in the field. We were given a tour of the facilities, which are designed to recreate the various conditions encountered by volunteers on their missions, so there were lots of interesting improvisations including “pre fab” hospitals and hinges made from tyres! After the tour we look part in a mass casualty exercise – we were each given a character with an injury and the volunteers in training have to tend to us in a recreated disaster zone. It was a fascinating experience and also a vital part of the training process for the recruits.

Following a debrief we were then taken to MSF’s supply warehouse – a vast place full of everything needed for missions ranging from medicines to blow-up hospitals! Every part of the supply chain has such attention to detail and it was impressive to see the scale of the operations.

The day was exhausting but it was so amazing to get a glimpse into MSF’s work and has made me even more proud that we are able to support this incredible organisation.

MSF is one of eight Headline Partners who are being supported through Euromonitor’s CSR Programme this year. Our partnership with MSF enables us to work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, part of our commitment as signatories to the United Nations Global Compact.
