Volunteering can be a highly rewarding and enjoyable experience. As well as providing employees with a chance to give back it allows them to develop a number of key skills. Each year we allow all staff members to take up to two days paid leave to volunteer with an organisation of their choice.
Gek Tan, an analyst in our Singapore office, recently used paid volunteering leave to help lead an annual children's activity holiday, Camp Mumbo. Over three days, the children and volunteers trade their mobile phones, computers and televisions for outdoor games, camp songs and arts and crafts. As well as providing much needed respite to families of children with additional care needs the camp aims to give children, from a variety of backgrounds, an opportunity to learn to be independent and develop new skills as well as making new friends.
