Session title: A new taste and feel: A refreshed outlook for beer post COVID
Session description: As the Coronavirus had a devastating impact across alcoholic beverages categories, differing levels of lockdown measures also impacted more heavily on some African countries, most notably South Africa. While sales were heavily restricted, the non-alcoholic beer category saw significant growth with brands that found a route to market gaining shares to the detriment of other categories, as seen in Nigeria, while going forward more offerings are likely to be introduced. E-commerce also made strong inroads during this time, with tech-savvy entrepreneurs and consumers boosting growth in Kenya with online order and delivery services. Going forward to a post COVID world, non-alcoholic beer and local economy brands will continue to enjoy the support, highlighted by healthy living trends and the resilience and innovation of the African region.
Session date and time: Monday, 24 August at 10:00am CET
