En la actualidad, los efectos del cambio climático encienden la alerta de los riesgos y grandes desafíos que enfrenta la humanidad, dando cuenta de la inevitable e imperiosa necesidad de avanzar en materias de sustentabilidad , involucrando a todos los actores de la sociedad. Dado lo anterior, como un aporte al conocimiento en la materia, Chilealimentos realizará un seminario que abarcará temáticas que abordan la sustentabilidad como un factor de promoción de exportaciones, la situación de nuestro país respecto a acciones con el cambio climático y su posición en el escenario latinoamericano, la visión de Naciones Unidas según la última información disponible y el uso de hidrógeno como la futura fuente de energía amigable con el medio ambiente.

Session description: Esta presentación analizará la economía circular como una estrategia de precio competitivo, ideas sobre cómo las empresas pueden conectar la sostenibilidad con el propósito de la marca y el auge del e-commerce como un incentivo para cambiar hacia una venta minorista más sostenible y circular e innovar en las cadenas de suministro y la entrega de última milla, soluciones con menor impacto ambiental y social.

31 October sees the start of COP26, which many consider the most important climate conference since 2015. Once again, the world’s leaders will have the opportunity to discuss how to address the looming climate crisis. Action cannot be delayed, as stated by the “climate emergency” declaration made by the United Nations in December 2020. Climate change is a very real risk for people, the planet and the economy. The aftermath of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been characterised by stark tensions and contradictions. These range from social empathy and a sense of community to a “me first” attitude of self-interest; from risk aversion to compulsive behaviour; from cautious spending and “less stuff” to indulgence spending and comfort clutter. These choices and behaviours vary from individual to individual, but we are seeing consumers engaging with both sides of the trend. They are risk averse in some aspects of their lives whilst throwing caution to the wind in others. Fashion sees consumer interest peak in sustainable and ethical brands, while fast-fashion remains an affordable convenience for many.

Travel and tourism businesses are much more exposed to climate change than those in other industries, given that the travel experience takes places in local destinations, often emerging countries with fragile ecosystems that are prone to climatic events and natural disasters. Coastal destinations are especially vulnerable to climate change and extreme weather events. Hence, two thirds of travel companies deem climate impacts as being a significant reason to develop business resilience.
