Inbound arrivals declined earlier in the review period but increased by 4% to reach three million trips in 2017. This shift occurred mainly as a result of two factors. The campaign presented some of the well-known sites in Israel, and promoted a more positive image of the country.
Inbound arrivals is expected to register CAGRs of 4% over the forecast period in terms of number of trips and in retail value terms at constant 2017 prices. Among the most prominent drivers of this expected growth rates will be the Ministry of Tourism’s high marketing budget, which will help to create a better image of Israel and encourage more tourists to visit. Another growth driver will be lower flight prices compared to the review period. Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism encouraged greater traffic by lowering lodging prices by easing the process of building budget and mid-priced hotels, and by not imposing any regulations on Airbnb or other short-term rental solutions.
