Sales of FF beverages continue to surge as Swedes constantly seek innovative options to boost their health and enable them to perform well at work and achieve good results when exercising, amid their increasingly hectic lifestyle. Hence, new soft drinks categories, namely FF liquid concentrates and FF RTD coffee, saw launches of FF beverages in the review period.

FF energy drinks controls value sales of FF beverages

FF energy drinks continued to dominate value sales of FF soft drinks in 2018. The key driver is reduced sugar energy drinks.

FF 100% juice surges from a low base

The strongest off-trade value sales growth was achieved by FF 100% juice in 2018. FF 100% juice was previously a marginalised category with a small number of juice brands and a focus on high vitamin content.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Proviva remains the leading player

Proviva AB retained the highest value share of FF beverages in 2018. Proviva markets digestive health products with the motto, “The tummy’s little friend!”.

No Carbs Co achieves the biggest share gain

The Swedish player gained significant value share of FF beverages in 2018, overtaking Red Bull Sweden to take second place after Proviva. No Carbs Co launched its first product at the end of 2014, and by 2018 Nocco was sold in 31 countries.

Unit price rises driven by focus on added value and new categories

The average unit price of FF beverages rose significantly in 2018. The increase was driven by FF energy drinks, which became pricier in 2018 while sales continued to surge, as the focus turned more towards added value instead of greater volumes.
