Intermediaries posted healthy current value growth in 2017, as further economic recovery was a major factor in the positive development of the category. The numbers of domestic and outbound trips increased and the majority of these trips were arranged through intermediaries. There were also some negative influences on the value performance of intermediaries in 2017. Continued geopolitical tensions and the threat from terrorism, for instance, were negative influences that limited growth in 2017.


The further recovery of the Dutch, European and World economies will help intermediaries to achieve further growth over the forecast period. Intermediaries cruise sales is a relatively underdeveloped category and is likely to record positive development over the forecast period. The growing popularity of booking cruise travel online through intermediaries will certainly help the category to achieve the highest growth. Intermediaries package holiday sales, on the other hand, is relatively mature and is therefore expected to see slowest growth at constant 2017 prices over the forecast period.
