Among all types of hotels, luxury and upscale hotels continued to see the greatest outlet growth in 2019. The opening of luxury hotels occurs mainly in Metro Manila, driven by integrated resorts which house several international hotel chains.

Mid-market hotels driven by aggressive expansion of local brand Seda

Mid-market hotels is considered to present the biggest opportunity among all grades of hotel lodging in the Philippines, given the demographic of its consumer base. This includes domestic travellers who are increasingly capable of spending more, most especially on added-value experiences.

Budget hotels set to benefit by partnering with tech-driven platforms

Although not as aggressive as luxury and upscale or mid-market hotels in terms of building new outlets, budget hotels remains the biggest segment in terms of outlet numbers. Among budget hotel brands, Thailand’s Hop Inn and Red Planet Hotels are seen to be actively expanding.
