NH high fibre sweet biscuits achieves a great performance

The health and wellness trend continues to develop significantly in sweet biscuits. This was reflected in hiking consumption of NH high fibre sweet biscuits during 2018 as more Czech household opted for sweet biscuits that offer wholegrain quality and contain a high proportion of fruit and nuts.

Other high fibre categories also attract vivid interest

Sales of NH high fibre bread, breakfast cereals and pasta also increased strongly during 2018. Retail volume consumption of baked goods decreased during 2018 as more Czech consumers followed the pattern of eating less baked goods but consuming premium quality.

NH fruit and nut bars and other NH categories also attract great interest

For snack bars, the locals opt more for bars with high fruit and nut content and it is important for them that bars contain a high amount of fibre and natural ingredients (besides functional ones), do not contain artificial sugar and offer a low carbohydrate content and calorific value. Within cereal bars, plain cereals are declining while flapjack-type and muesli bars offering cereals with fruit pieces and nuts are gaining a wider consumer base.

Domestic bakery United Bakeries as retains the top position in NH packaged food as it leads NH high fibre bread, which is the largest category. The bakery offers a wide range of wellness-positioned baked goods and the Cerea product line is very popular among Czech consumers.

Local dairies dominate NH dairy

Local Mlekarna Valasske Mezirici spol sro, Madeta as and Mlekarna Kunin as (Groupe Lactalis) remain the leading companies in NH dairy. They benefit from their well-established brands, strong distribution networks and leading positions in NH sour milk products.
