Travel intermediaries sales increasingly dominated by online channels

At the start of the review period, online and offline bookings accounted for roughly half of all travel intermediaries sales in Israel. However, by the end of the review period, online value sales had climbed to become more than three times those registered by offline value sales.

Offline travel agencies increasingly seen as suitable only for niche bookings

Traditional bricks-and-mortar travel agencies are coming to be seen more as niche businesses amidst a major shift towards online direct bookings for flights, lodging and other travel and tourism products and services. Booking a hotel online is now seen as a pretty simple process, and one which also promises good value for money.

The number of travel agencies operating in Israel continues to decline

Over the course of the review period, a strong decrease was seen in the number of traditional bricks-and-mortar travel agencies operating in Israel. However, these types of businesses do still exist throughout the country.
