Strengthening purchasing power helps organic beverages grow

Due to rising disposable incomes and GDP in the country, an increasing number of Czech consumers are spending more money on products which have added health benefits and are eco-friendly. Awareness of organic products is improving in the country and categories such as organic 100% juice and organic tea are seeing dynamic growth which is expected to continue over the forecast period.

Marketing and innovation play increasingly important roles

Marketing and product innovation were lacking in organic beverages in 2018; for the full sales potential to be realised, significant improvement will need to take place. With this in mind, producers need to improve consumer education by, for example, explaining and justifying the higher unit price compared with standard (non-organic) brands.

Organic tea continues to dominate among organic beverages

Organic tea holds the biggest share among organic beverages. While the availability of organic coffee and organic soft drinks is limited, organic tea offers a wide range of different products and is widely available in drugstores, pharmacies and online shops.

The competitive landscape is dominated by producers of tea and coffee, the most sought-after products among organic beverages. Sonnentor sro maintained its leading position in 2018 and led far ahead of other producers.

Private label maintains its value share

Over the review period, private label producers maintained a steady aggregate value share of organic beverages, with dm-Drogerie Markt sro and Tesco Stores CR as holding the leading positions. Tesco offers organic black, green and fruit tea as well as a selection of organic juices such as carrot, orange and apple.

Eco-friendly attributes are important for organic producers

Thanks to growing demand for ecological products and strengthening purchasing power, the position of organic beverages is expected to improve over the forecast period. Organic beverages is expected to see new entrants and expanding product lines among existing players.
