Organic coffee and tea continued to be popular in the Czech Republic, with organic coffee and organic tea both seeing robust retail value sales growth in 2021, but organic tea’s growth rate is somewhat slower than in 2020. Organic fruit/herbal tea remained the largest category in organic tea during 2021.
Organic hot drinks remained the larger and faster growing organic beverages category in 2021. Organic soft drinks, on the other hand, continued to see negative retail value sales growth thanks to these products’ relatively high unit price as well as the fact that generally Czech consumers are more interested in organic hot drinks than organic soft drinks.
In September 2021, Kofola as launched an organic extension of its popular flavoured mineral water Rajec. The company launched Rajec Bio in two variants, namely Raspberry & Blueberry and Elderflower & Mint, in an on-the-go plastic 750ml bottle.
Organic beverages is projected to see stronger constant retail value sales growth over the entire forecast period, despite the economic uncertainty that is likely to follow the pandemic in 2022 and 2023. Higher income Czech households are likely to buy organic beverages during the forecast period as they are less impacted by a downturn in the economy.
Manufacturers of organic beverages are anticipated to launch new products and innovate during the forecast period, especially in organic coffee, organic tea and organic 100% juice, which are expected to be the highest growing categories in constant retail value sales terms. Furthermore, there will very likely be a wider offer of private label brands in both organic hot and soft drinks to assist in increasing their consumer base.
Organic coconut and other plant waters are likely to see demand grow during the forecast period, although it remains a relatively small category in 2021. However, it is set to enlarge its consumer base, especially among the younger generations that demand new tastes and novel wellness qualities.

Certified organic products are those which have been produced, stored, processed, handled and marketed in accordance with precise technical specifications (standards) and certified as "organic" by a certification body such as the Soil Association in the UK, the European Union or the US Department of Agriculture. It is important to note that an organic label applies to the production process, ensuring that the product has been produced and processed in an ecologically sound manner. The organic label is therefore a production process claim as opposed to a product quality claim. Note: For organic products to be included, the organic aspect needs to form a significant part of the overall positioning/marketing of the product, including the organic certification label in the packaging. For product category definitions please refer to the definitions section (can be found under the "Help" section on Passport) for the respective system: Packaged Food, Hot Drinks, Soft Drinks.See All of Our Definitions
