China is experiencing unique demographic conditions: a huge gender imbalance has been created by 40 years of its one-child policy, and there are now far more men than women. This demographic situation is troubling for China, as it has a direct impact on birth rates and consumption patterns. With a growing proportion of unmarried men, the number of single person households is rising rapidly. However, there are also positives, as dating services are booming and new markets being created.
