While colour cosmetics and fragrances suffered significantly from the marked reduction in social contact during the crisis, demand for skin care continued to be supported by its role in everyday regimens aimed at longer-term ends.

All super premium beauty and personal care categories are expected to enjoy increasing sales over the forecast period as consumers return to previous habits and again venture out to work and for social occasions. Even so, many consumers will continue to opt for less expensive versions of products for some time to come, given the severe impact of the health crisis on their disposable incomes, while some retailers will offer promotions to bolster unit sales.
The forecast period is set to see more super premium brands expand their offer in the relatively limited men’s skin care segment. Many male consumers explored men’s skin care products during the greater amount of time available in the period of home seclusion.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine Government introduced a law mandating that employers not only allow and encourage their staff to work from home wherever possible, but also provide the necessary equipment to enable this. Given the success of home working around the globe during the pandemic, and that most companies have already made the necessary investments in this area, home working is clearly here to stay for many employees, at least for parts of their working week.
