Consequently, retail value growth reached only 4% in 2015. Efforts by the tobacco industry to limit the expansion of these products failed, due to the expansion of distribution and the reduced price compared with smoking, with the same effect when compared with cigarettes. Recently, however, the tobacco industry switched sides, realising that it is better to be in this category than to fight it.
