Understanding E-Commerce Shopper Engagement and Satisfaction: US Juice

As companies and retailers compete in an increasingly dynamic e-commerce market, the need to understand online consumer engagement and satisfaction through ratings and reviews has never been higher. In Understanding E-Commerce Shopper Engagement and Satisfaction: US Juice, key questions across various business areas will be addressed in order for companies to plan, strategise and execute brand and company activity online in a more effective manner.

As online commerce continues to grow due to ongoing regulations and precautions consumers face due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as how fundamental consumer behavior has shifted as a result of the past year, the importance of monitoring consumer products’ online ratings and reviews increases. In order to determine effective e-commerce strategies and tactics, it is necessary to first have an understanding and benchmark of key ratings and review metrics within an industry and country.

With Euromonitor International’s global e-commerce product and price monitoring platform, Via, extracting millions of data points every day for standardised cross-comparison, it is quickly apparent which market suppliers, brands as well as health attributes are seeing high rates of reviews as well as how consumers rate those products. Examining 151,377 daily data observations (SKUs) for the US e-commerce market during the period between 1 June and 30 June 2021 within the soft drinks juices market reveals several insights.

  • Juice drinks (up to 24% juice) SKUs have the highest reviews per SKU, but 100% juice had the highest review incidence rate in the time period
  • SKUs from Capri Sun Group Holding and Keurig Dr Pepper had the highest ratings amid the largest juice players in the US
  • Once Upon a Farm brand had the highest rated SKUs of over 290 brands tracked
  • Energy boosting and low sugar SKUs were the highest rated SKUs for those SKUs with tagged health claims
