What we use AI for

AI supports activities including information discovery and retrieval, data processing and organisation, analytical support, drafting and summarisation, translation and workflow automation.

The balance varies by product and by engagement. In some of our work AI contributes materially to how research is gathered and how findings are structured and written. In other work its role is narrower. We describe that variation openly rather than presenting a single picture, because a single picture would not be accurate.

Where accountability sits

Our analysts, researchers, consultants and subject matter experts hold responsibility for the conclusions and recommendations we deliver. Euromonitor is accountable for the accuracy, integrity and professional standards of its work, whether or not AI has been used in producing it.

In our research and consulting work, AI output is assessed by qualified Euromonitor personnel before a deliverable is issued. Where AI capabilities are made available to clients directly as product features, those features are identified as such and their limitations are documented in the relevant product documentation.

How we disclose AI use

We disclose our use of AI where it contributes materially to client-facing work, and we scale the level of detail to the extent of that contribution.

In practice this means a deliverable may carry a short statement describing the role AI played in producing it. Where AI supported production without shaping the findings, the statement is brief. Where AI formed part of the analytical workflow, the statement says so and describes what it did. In our published research, where AI is used consistently and substantially across the production process, we disclose its use in every report.

The purpose is that a reader should be able to tell what part AI played in the work in front of them, without having to ask.

Governance, security and data

Our policies permit only approved AI tools, and their use is governed by our information security, data protection and responsible AI policies. Client confidential information is handled in accordance with applicable contractual obligations and those policies.

We assess AI providers through our supplier risk management programme, which includes due diligence before onboarding, defined security and data protection requirements within supplier agreements, and ongoing review. We do not identify which providers or models are used for specific pieces of work.

Security and compliance

A fuller security response, including how client data is handled and our approach under applicable AI regulation, including the EU AI Act, is available to clients and prospective clients under non-disclosure agreement.

Contractual commitments
