Euromonitor International's research team was at the 2019 National Restaurant Association show to observe trends in the food and foodservice industries. In packaged food, protein in traditionally low-protein categories was a clear trend, with companies like Trident Seafoods using fish in pasta to up the protein content. Meat substitutes also continues to be a trend, with well known companies like Impossible featured prominently at the show. However, meat substitute companies are expanding into other ingredients such as jackfruit. In consumer foodservice, personalisation continues to be a trend, evident in self-pour bars. In delivery, companies are focused on sustainable, durable containers.
