Mexico is faced with rising inflation and a slowdown in economic growth, with many households suffering from a sharp rise in the cost of living. This economic downturn is likely to have a big impact on retail demand for nuts, at least in the early part of the forecast period.
As with many crops, the production of nuts is also likely to be tested over the forecast period with climate change becoming a very real threat. For example, water scarcity is already an important challenge for farmers in Mexico as the demand increases and availability becomes less certain with the state of Nuevo León having already been hit with several droughts in recent years.
