In the review period, fresh food in general, and vegetables in particular, saw investment by players and the government alike, all of which helped to push players to improve their products and enlarge their business scope. Within vegetables, new players are not only helping to build a more competitive environment, but also to set a higher standard for the farming and distribution of vegetables in Vietnam.

“Clear vegetables” are seeing rising demand, but are struggling to grow

Vietnamese consumers consider “clear vegetables” as vegetables with no residues of pesticides or growth simulants. Although “clear vegetables” have much potential, it is hard to increase the target market because of difficulties in terms of pricing and quality control.
