Experiential luxury is comprised of luxury hotels alone, with luxury foodservice remaining negligible. In 2021, current values ales of luxury hotels are expected to recover from the dramatic slump in value sales in 2020, when sales fell by over a half, due to hotels being closed for much of the year.
International luxury hotels are the main providers of experiential luxury in Poland. Orbis leads, accounting for just under third of value sales, with Starwood Hotel & Resorts following closely behind.
Luxury foodservice remains negligible in Poland and what luxury foodservice there is resumes; mainly provided through luxury hotels. When staying in luxury hotels, customers often want to experience all of the attractions and services on offer, particularly when they are paying a premium price.
With experiential luxury comprising mainly of luxury hotels, the outlook is positive for the forecast period. There is a shortage of luxury accommodation in Poland and if tourist numbers continue to increase on the same trajectory as before the pandemic, then there will be significant potential for growth with an emphasis on providing a unique experience that differentiates the luxury experience from budget accommodation.
Poland is becoming a popular tourist destination and once global travel resumes, it is expected that tourist numbers will continue to rise. The number of tourists is not only growing from neighbouring countries, but also from further afield, including Asian countries such as China and South Korea.
It is predicted that once tourism starts up again that many tourists will be looking for health and wellness type experiences. Already, there are luxury facilities being developed in tourist resorts outside of the large cities that cater to the health and wellness clientele and it is expected that demand will continue to grow for such services over the forecast period.
