Since the transition of scheduled airline Sky to a low-cost format during 2016, the airline industry has had to quickly reinvent itself to compete with the low prices offered by this new format. The arrival of new players in the low-cost segment, such as ultra-low-cost airline JetSMART, has driven competitiveness, impacting scheduled airliners and forcing them to quickly adapt.
In 2018, LATAM expanded its international destinations, adding routes for cities such as Lisbon, Boston and Tel Aviv-Yafo. The increase in supply allowed consumers to have a wider range of destinations and a greater variety of prices, resulting in a much more competitive market.
