Because of frequent water shortage difficulties in Taiwan, electricity- and water-efficient home laundry appliances are top priorities for consumers. Instead of seeking differentiated patented cleansing technology, consumers have become more concerned with appliance noise levels, which can negatively impact the neighbouring environment due to the close living space in most apartments.

The Taiwanese prefer home laundry appliances with larger capacity

In contrast to neighbouring countries, Taiwanese consumers prefer to purchase home laundry appliances with a large capacity. Office workers tend not to have time to wash their clothes daily, and therefore choose larger capacity models over smaller ones.

Automatic washer dryers exhibits stronger growth due to continuous marketing efforts from imported brands

Thanks to more brands launching models, automatic washer dryers witnessed the fastest growth in 2018 and will maintain the strongest growth over the forecast period. After rounds of education initiated by Japanese and Korean brands, consumers have begun to take more interest in washer dryers.

Domestic brands continue to concentrate on automatic washing machines

Local brands differentiate themselves from overseas players by competing mostly in automatic washing machines. On the one hand, more consumers prefer purchasing this type of appliance due to its lower prices.

Automatic dryers shows different development trajectories under different players

Although automatic dryers is expected to see slower growth over the forecast period, it can be divided into two different development directions. Products made in Taiwan, which are smaller than 7kg in capacity, are losing popularity among consumers due to the limited capacity.
