Demand for RTD coffee is projected to pick up in 2023 and beyond, as economic conditions in Brazil improve in line with the anticipated easing of the pandemic. Indeed, the category is expected to see a rising rate of off-trade volume growth over the course of the forecast period, although on-trade consumption looks set to remain negligible throughout this period.
Despite weak demand and the niche status of the category, the influence of the health and wellness trend has also reached RTD coffee. For instance, the latter part of the review period saw local brand Puravida introduce Bullet Coffee Cold Brew, an RTD “bulletproof coffee”.
While hot coffee is enjoyed by Brazilians all year round, consumption peaks during the winter, and drops off somewhat during the summer months. Over the forecast period, it is likely that some producers of RTD coffee will attempt to exploit this seasonal consumption pattern by investing in marketing activities that position their brands as a refreshing alternative to fresh coffee for hot summer days.
