Soaring inflation may continue across the first half of the forecast period, impacting volume sales as average current unit prices increase. Rising prices and a decline in household purchasing power are already slowing premiumisation in fresh coffee and are likely to affect RTD coffee as well.
As Hungarians become increasingly discerning, RTD coffee is expected to retain its perception as an indulgence product. Healthier variants, such as those with reduced sugar and lactose-free products, remain niche, and there are currently only a few milk alternatives (for example, dm-Bio's cashew latte) and organic variants.
Hungarians lead increasingly hectic lives, and this is expected to continue across the forecast period as inflation and the cost of living crisis impact household purchasing power. On-the-go consumption of energy-boosting drinks will therefore remain strong, and maintaining a presence in impulse buy channels, such as forecourt retailers, food/drink/tobacco stores and convenience stores, will be a key factor in driving sales.
