E-commerce is expected to increase its retail value share in apparel accessories over the forecast period, albeit at a much slower rate than towards the end of the review period. In 2022, there was already a significant cooling-off of the shift to e-commerce, as any consumers returned to their usual shopping habits, browsing and buying in brick-and-mortar stores.
“Other” apparel accessories is projected to continue to see a strong decline in retail volume and value (constant 2022 prices) sales over the early-to-mid-forecast period. The main reason is the strong decline in sales of face masks, which is expected to be minimal as the country emerges out of the pandemic.
