New law on alcoholic drinks trade may benefit bars

In 2018, the national parliament passed a law imposing limits on the sale of alcoholic drinks in retail outlets. The new legislation allows local councils to exercise their right to ban retail sales of alcohol at certain times and in certain areas; however, no nationwide ban has been enforced.

In spring 2018, a prominent Ukrainian restaurateur, Dima Borysov, launched Bilyi Nalyv, a fixed price cider bar, where all menu items, including cider, oysters, hot-dogs and pies, have a small price tag of UAH29.00.
