Sustainability is set to become more of a focus area over the forecast period as consumers become more conscious of the wider impact their purchasing decisions can have. Companies which do not consider sustainability as a part of their long-term growth strategies are likely to struggle with consumers likely to expect to have access to information about the manufacturing processes used in the production of the footwear they buy.
Footwear is set to register steady growth over the forecast period, with volume sales set to see a full recovery to pre-pandemic levels. Women’s footwear is predicted to remain the dominant category as women replace their shoes more frequently and often possess more pairs of shoes than men or children.
The trend towards more casual footwear is predicted to continue during the forecast period as it becomes increasingly acceptable to wear trainers or trainer-like shoes not only to events and during leisure time but also in the workplace. In line with this trend manufactures of footwear are expected to launch new product lines with a greater focus on comfort.
