Furthermore, the sports and exercise trends look set to continue as consumers pay more attention to their physical health, thus heralding ongoing opportunities for local players who manufacture sports footwear.
The relocation of production chains is a recurrent alternative taken by companies to reduce production and distribution costs, as well as a sustainable alternative to reduce CO2 emissions in the transportation of materials. Within this landscape, Mexico is beginning to appear as an attractive area thanks to its proximity to the United States, one of the world's leading markets.
Smuggling and piracy have long been challenges within Mexican commerce, but with the rise of sneaker collections from premium brands such as Nike, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton, imitations, clones, and contraband have become an affordable alternative for consumers unable to purchase the original models, directly impacting formal commerce and the local market both. Previously, one had to go to informal markets such as Tepito or San Juan de Dios to get a pair of "pirate" sneakers.
