PROSPECTS
New technology drive sales

New technology in both standard and robotic vacuum cleaners attracted Polish consumers in 2018. Silent modes, anti-allergenic features as well as new types of vacuum cleaners, such as stick formats, helped attract consumer attention.

Robotic vacuum cleaners gain more recognition

Polish consumers are very keen on novel products offering new technologies. Aside from their high prices, robotic vacuum cleaners have had issues with efficiency and programming.

Discounters the best performing distribution channel

Discounters such as Biedronka and Lidl are more frequently selling vacuum cleaners, offering low- and mid-priced models. The brands available are often not present in popular large retail chains such as RTV Euro AGD and Media Markt, for example Hoffen Systematic and Dekra.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
BSH remains the leading player in vacuum cleaners

BSH remained the leading player in vacuum cleaners in 2018. This position can be attributed to the popularity of the company’s three brands, Zelmer, Bosch and Siemens, which are seen as offering high quality and reliable appliances.

Media-Saturn records the strongest growth

Media-Saturn, which offers two brands, Koenic and OK, recorded the strongest volume growth in 2018. This can be largely attributed to its sales growing from a very low base.

Dyson introduces a new line of stick vacuum cleaners

Dyson, which is known to Polish consumers for its high quality and innovative cooling fans, is also present in vacuum cleaners. The company specialises in stick vacuum cleaners, one of the fastest growing categories.
