Sleep aids is a small category that is led by domestic players with natural products. There is still room for international brands to grow in this highly fragmented landscape, particularly if they use natural ingredients.

Sales dominated by small players

However, between them the three leading companies only account for a little over a 10th of total retail sleep aid value, with the majority of sales represented by players grouped under “others”. These smaller players are offering natural products that are widely available in markets, supermarkets, herbal outlets, specialist stores and at natural product fairs, meaning that they can be easily found by local consumers.

Sleeping oils player Just increasing its direct selling presence

The Swiss player Just, which has a wide range of herbal therapies, is intensifying its presence in direct selling, with sleeping oils among its core products. Wawasana and other herbal tea brands, as well as local stores that sell leaves to aid sleeping, are popular in Lima and the provinces.
