RTDs have benefitted from a flurry of new product developments in rum, whisky and gin cocktails as brands capitalise on rising demand for cocktails. Jameson Ginger Ale + Life, Beefeater Gin + Tonic and Le COQ brands have enjoyed a great deal of in-store visibility in 2021 driving volume sales.

RTDs is becoming a more competitive category with hard seltzers arriving in retailers during the summer of 2021, including large retail chains such as Kaufland. Wai Moments was by far the most visible brand on retail shelfs, however a lack of marketing and very limited consumer knowledge of the hard seltzer category limited its progress.
The RTD category is set to prosper over the forecast period as new product development and innovation continued to draw consumers towards the category. RTDs
RTD stands for ‘ready-to-drink’. Other terms which may be used for these products are FABs, alcopops and premixes. The RTDs sector is the aggregation of malt-, wine-, spirit- and other types of premixed drinks. These drinks usually have an alcohol content of around 5% but this can reach as high as 10% ABV. Premixes containing a high percentage of alcohol of around 15%+ combined with juice or any other soft drink are included here. RTDs are usually marketed as products to be drunk neat, with ice, or as a cocktail ingredient. Fruit-flavoured, vodka-based spirits with an alcohol content of between 16-21% are classified here. Examples: Alizé, Ursus Roter, Berentzen Fruchtige, Kleiner Feigling.
