Overall inbound and outbound travel will recover to pre-pandemic levels in 2024, with domestic leisure recovering as early as 2023 and business outbound in 2024. Domestic business and business inbound, however, will not fully recover to 2019 levels by the end of the forecast period.
Despite the fact that MICE travel has been severely negatively impacted by the pandemic, Colombia took the lead in the region and was the first country to launch the security seal endorsed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 2020. Additionally, UNWTO and ProColombia devised a "Change the date, not the destination" programme, so that the events postponed or cancelled during the pandemic did not change their planned destination post-pandemic.
